At Medway U3A we are keen to keep our members engaged if possible, and have been exploring video conferencing systems to this end. We have been using the platform known as Zoom, but Skype, FaceTime, WhatsApp and Facebook can also be used. We have assisted numerous members to become familiar with Zoom, and will be holding some Monthly Meetings in this way. If you would like to explore this pathway, but are not familiar with it, please do get in touch. We can help you through the initial stage, and once that is completed, it becomes very easy. You will need to be a current member of Medway U3A to take advantage of this opportunity.

The Click IT Group was formed to help members get to grips with their computers, tablets and smart phones. The bulk of the activity takes place in group sessions held in Rochester Library, where we meet every four weeks. A typical attendance is around four members. So far the meetings have consisted of the Group Leader working around the table, helping each member in turn with an aspect of their chosen device. This can be a little unfair on some attendees, who may receive less attention than others.
I have been able to assist a number of members individually on their computers, by meeting at a convenient library to demonstrate and talk them through their challenges. These have included
- Setting up an email account
- Managing pictures between computers, cameras. phones and memory sticks
- Putting together a Powerpoint presentation
- Word processing and editing documents
Prior to the Covid situation we had been meeting every fourth Tuesday afternoon at Rochester Library. All our Planned dates for 2020 are now cancelled, due to the unavailability of the Library as a meeting place.
