Zentangle is a mindfulness activity rather similar to the current fashion for adult colouring books, except that you build up your own design by using simple repeating shapes on a three and a half inch square of white card. The idea is that it allows the mind to clear, soothes the soul and allows the body to relax. It helps you develop your creativity and intuition, regular practice improves your eye hand co-ordination and the ability to concentrate and focus your attention.
The equipment required is very simple, the card itself, a few fine-line pens and a pencil.
The format of a meeting is as follows. A ten minute mind quietening session that would consist of a short reading or talk about an aspect of mindfulness and a short meditation. This would be followed by about an hour of Zentangle in silence and then an hour (give or take) of coffee, biscuits and general conversation for those who wish to stay on.
This is a house group with a maximum attendance eight. We meet in the morning of the first Monday of the month.
