Marple Bridge & Mellor

Welcome

Website Update - New website is now available.
Last July we mentioned that we will be migrating to a new U3A website, to provide improved security, reliability and capabilities.

We are pleased to say that this website has now been set up and is available for viewing. You can access the site by clicking on the link opposite. Alternatively, you can copy the following text into the address bar of your web browser: https://mbm.u3asite.uk

Please take a look and remember to save the website address in your favourites, for future reference.

This new site has the same information as the existing site and will be the only site that will be updated going forward. So it is worth using this site, in preference to the existing site.

Please note that the existing website will also be decommissioned on 19th September.

About Marple Bridge and Mellor U3A

We are a group of local retired people in Marple Bridge and Mellor who have formed a branch of the "University of the Third Age". We are affiliated to the THIRD AGE TRUST. Some of our interest groups are run jointly with other local U3A branches who are members of the Pennine Link.

Our monthly meetings are normally held at St Paul's, Compstall, SK6 5HU; in the Church Hall on the 3rd Thursday of each month. There is limited car-parking within the grounds of the Church and additional Pay and Display parking is available at Etherow Country Park.

The Hall is equipped with a loop system so that members with hearing difficulties can listen to the speakers. Tea, coffee and biscuits are served before the formal meetings begin, giving members an opportunity to chat to friends and to enrol for the various activities. Members are charged an admission fee to cover the cost of refreshments etc.

The attendance fee is £2 for members and £2 for visitors.

We have many interest groups which can be viewed via the "Groups" link above. If you are interested in joining, you can be assured of a warm welcome. For any further information regarding our association please contact either the Secretary or the Chairman.

For membership enquiries please contact the Membership Secretary.

Membership information:

Annual Subscription: The annual subscription is £12.00, payable on or before the end of January each year. Please pay the Membership Secretary.

How to Join: There is currently no waiting list for the Marple Bridge & Mellor U3A, and new members are welcome. Please apply through the Membership Secretary, from whom further information and an application form may be obtained. Please return the Application Form with your subscription to the Membership Secretary, who will give you your membership card and the new member's Information Pack.

Information for New Members: An Information Pack is available for new members, and you should receive this, with your Membership Card, when your completed Application Form and subscription are received. The Information Pack contains the names, addresses and contact telephone numbers of members of the Committee and leaders of the various Interest Groups. The same information is published in the quarterly U3A Newsletter and available on the website.

Visitors: Visitors are welcome to attend our meetings, but will be expected to pay an attendance fee, currently £2. For those living in the area, no more than one meeting should be attended on a ‘visitor’ basis, after which the visitor will be expected to join the U3A.
