March

Science and Technology

Covid-19 status - Currently this Group is completely inactive.

The vision for this new group is that we explore and discuss a wide range of topics, within the broad scope of the group title. If there are any particular topics members wish to explore then those could be included. There may also be visits to various science/technology related locations.

The initial format, which can be modified as we move forward, is to view a 30 minute professionally produced DVD presentation followed by a group discussion. Dependent on how the discussion goes, we could then repeat the process on a further topic, with a coffee/tea break midway.

The lecture courses that we have available to use are 'The Joy of Science' and 'Understanding the Inventions That Changed the World' from 'The Great Courses' series. The content of these courses can be viewed by clicking the links on the right.

There is also available a boxed set of BBC lectures presented by Professor Brian Cox, which comprises 6 DVDs covering 'Wonders of the Solar System', 'Wonders of the Universe' and 'Wonders of Life'.
