Grumpies

We are not really grumpy! We just allow men only to join our group.

We are a thriving male group which has detailed aims and format. We meet monthly in a local pub The Ship and do whatever takes our fancy over a pint or two. Discussion and learning is our prime aim. We also encourage each member, in turn, to organise a visit to a local place of interest. This visit normally takes place on the 2nd Friday but could be different depending on availability of the venue or event.

PROGRAMME

2021

Aug 2021 The Grumpies first monthly meeting since the lifting of Covid Lockdown took place at The Ship on Wed 25th of August, and its purpose was to re-start the meetings and to agree an itinerary for our trips out for the rest of the year.

Sept 2021 The first trip out this year since the lifting of the Covid Lockdown was on 2nd September from Foxes Marina, March. We were in 2 Boats (2 x 10 people) and travelled along the River Nene to Outwell and back with a fish & chips stop on the way. This trip was organised by our very own Captain Birds Eye, Barry Pope.

Oct 2021 This trip, organised by Win Fox, was to The Shuttleworth Collection near Biggleswade which specialised in the development of the first aircraft and the engines that powered them.

Nov 2021 This trip, organised by Roy Neesom, was to Bletchley Park Museum in Milton Keynes which became the principal centre for the Allied Code- breaking during the Second World War.

Dec 2021 The Grumpies Christmas Buffet was held at The Griffin, and in a good spirited way the 'world was put to rights', and no one was the worse for it.
