Welcome to our Special Quilting Group.
Our Group has been formed to enable members to become proficient, or more proficient, in patchwork and quilting.
We will be working on some joint projects as well as other items, so that we all learn the basic techniques, blocks, construction and quilting methods.
The group is not aimed at any level of existing abilities; we welcome absolute beginners, intermediate and experienced quilters alike. We all teach each other what we know and ask for help with what we don't know. This way we can all advance and work at our own pace.
The result of our first joint effort, in 2011, is shown on the right: every member of the group made at least one block; some members were absolute beginners, others had done some in the past. It was presented in December 2011 to our Chairman, and is used as a table-cover during all of our U3A monthly meetings.
If you are interested in learning our craft (or is it art?) we would like to hear from you by Email for initial contact (click on the birdie on the right), or please talk to Joan Manze at the monthly U3A meeting. We await your contact with interest.
We meet in a spacious classroom with plenty of light, this means we need to charge £5 per person per month to pay the rent of this room. This is payable at the beginning of each month.
Sessions are held on the First and Third Thursday in the month, from 9am. till 12 noon.
We would like to hear from you and hope you will join us and learn to make beautiful things, be they cushions, wall-hangings, throws or that all-important heirloom to hand down the generations!
If you would like to find out more about this group you can email the Group Leader (see right-hand panel above).
If you are interested in becoming a member of March U3A you can email from the main Contact page.
