Calligraphy

The Calligraphy Group meets at Marilyn Jones’s home every 2nd and 4th Wednesday in the month from 1pm to 3pm.

The Group is currently full.

Of course if anyone wishes to start another group then any information or advice that we have can be shared. When the group began seven years ago I knew nothing about Calligraphy and just wanted to learn The Art of Beautiful Writing.

A new large conservatory was been built during lockdown and this will ensure that everyone has enough space and the best natural light possible.

The Calligraphy Group will enable members to share knowledge and learn traditional Calligraphy styles beginning with Foundational, and Gothic Hands. We can progress onto different hands when ready.

Learn the Art of Beautiful Writing. Learn through practice, videos, and more practice.

To start with bring along an A4 ruled pad, or an A4 Layout pad.... either is fine.

Members can try out different pens, nibs, and inks initially that are in Marilyn’s stash, until they find what is suitable for them.

The group is always open to new suggestions according to members' interests and provides the opportunity to try out something new. Beginners as well as experienced Calligraphers are welcome.

A Facebook and a WhatsApp Group both called Calligraphy Capers have been set up especially for the Calligraphy Group. These social media groups enable members to keep in touch, and get access to practice and tracing sheets, help and support whenever they need it between Group meetings.

Links to a OneDrive (Cloud Storage) folder is available where there is much more documentation and practice sheets that can be downloaded and printed out as and when required.

Members can source their own pens and other materials and a Treasurer has been appointed to keep track of any money when the members want to order materials collectively to share the costs (P&P and sometimes reductions when you buy more than one).
