Antiques and Collectables *
In October 2016 it was three years since the group started and to mark the occasion we had a visit from James Lewis, auctioneer, valuer and TV personality. James has appeared on Bargain Hunt, Flog-it and Antiques Road Trip.
Around one hundred people attended the event which was held in a function suite at Mansfield Town Football Club. The audience included members from other U3A groups in the area including Rainworth, Sherwood and the newly formed Forest Town group.
The Mansfield U3A Antiques & Collectables group held its inaugural meeting on Tuesday the 8th of October 2013, at the Bridge Street Methodist Church, Mansfield.
Members were asked to bring a piece of Royal memorabilia. The variety was astonishing. It ranged from a royal horse shoe, books, mugs, glassware and plates to a Kings Scout uniform, stamps and much more. The eras covered ranged from Victoria to Edward and Fergie.
The Group Leader, Pat Blackwell, has her own interests in this varied subject. The group is full at present and there is a waiting list, but please don't let that put you off. If enough interest is shown, you can always start another.
Members share their own interests and knowledge with others. The subjects and objects are varied, not necessarily of great value.
