The Mansfield U3A Art Group meets monthly to enable members to spend time practising their drawing and painting skills.
Most members work in watercolour but this is by choice. We help and encourage each other, and beginners are always welcome and will receive help and encouragement. We now have some watercolours that you can use on your first visit so that you do not have to spend on paints before finding how easy it can be.
Each month a subject for the next meeting is set to encourage members to try new subjects and accept a challenge with different subjects but members are free to pursue their own subject and media. More tables are now available to us so we are now able to expand our group.
Members provide their own materials such as a pencil, paper and brushes but kitchen roll and or old credit type card may also be in the kit. The number and quality of these tools will grow as you progress and pick up tips from other members. (Paper is available at cost to take advantage of bulk buying.)
We meet occasionally to view videos of professionals at work and expand our knowledge and skill.
We meet at the Big Barn Lane Methodist Church on the third Wednesday of each month from 10.00am to 12.00noon. Tea, coffee and biscuits are available and there is plenty of off road parking. Some of the recent finished work is shown below but don't be put off by the standard that has been achieved after much practice. Absolute beginners are welcome.
We keep costs down to the minimum by paying for three months in advance so that we have the money to pay for the room. The current cost of membership is £10 per quarter. That's £10 for six hours of friendship, encouragement, advice and relaxation.
