Play Reading 1
From September, there will be two Play Reading groups because of the high demand from members.
The original Play Reading group, led by Steve Kendall, will continue to meet on the third Wednesday of every month, meeting at 2pm at members' homes. The second group will meet on the first Tuesday of every month, also meeting at 2pm at members' homes. Venues rotate amongst member's houses. The leader will be Glenn Priestley, who joined the play readers in June and has considerable experience of amateur dramatics.
Playsets will be borrowed from Lancashire Libraries so that group members can read the plays live without rehearsal. There is no need for members to try to learn the lines of scripts. The meetings aim to be relaxed, good fun and sociable. The sessions usually last two hours with a 15 minute for refreshments approximately half way through.
The charge per session of £2 helps to cover the cost of loans from the library.
Taster sessions are available with both groups for potential members who would like to join. Recently performed plays include The History Boys and the Prime of Miss Jean Brodie. A wide range of comedy and dramas are available for the autumn season.
