DAY TO DAY USE OF IT
THIS GROUP RESTARTED IN 2024 AFTER A BREAK DURING COVID. IT WAS REQUESTED BY A CURRENT MEMBER AND HAS HAD 5 MEMBERS ATTENDING FOR THE SPRING TERM 2024.
SOME OF THE CURRENT GROUP WISH TO CONTINUE FROM MAY-JULY TO FURTHER THEIR SKILLS, SORT THEIR PHOTOS ETC BUT 3 MORE MEMBERS ARE NEEDED TO MAKE IT VIABLE. DETAILS ARE BELOW.

The Computer Skills group aims to help u3a members learn and practice skills in the use of a computer in order to assist in daily tasks at home. The sessions are relaxed, friendly and sociable and people of all abilities are welcome. Members need to bring their own laptop computer.
This group is for those wishing to learn how to produce basic documents using Microsoft Office or wishing to build on their current skills. I offer a 6 session term covering the creation of documents, spreadsheets and tables using Microsoft Office (or an equivalent software.) Apple computer users are also welcome to attend, although this is not Sheila’s main expertise! Members can also come and work on their own documents with help if and when needed but it is advisable to cover the basic course first. Each group needs 5-6 members in order to be viable. 3 more members are needed to make the Summer term of 2024 viable.
Individual tuition, support and encouragement is given and it is understood that members joining will start at different levels of experience. New users learn basic Word and Excel; others who have learned the basics can return, to work on their own projects such as organising photographs, learning how to use Publisher or how to do presentations on PowerPoint. Some have come to improve their proficiency in the use of email. Wi-fi is available.
The cost is likely to be £15 for the 6 sessions, but this does depend on the number of members. This is payable on week 1. All fees go towards paying the weekly rent.
