Thu Apr 25th | Special Events | Drop In 2 - 4 pm, Village Hall, Lymm Join us, where members old and new can meet and those wishing to join our u3a can come along to find out more about Lymm & Thelwall u3a A chance for members to express ideas and suggestions or just be sociable and have the chance to relax in the warm company of friends. Thu Apr 25th | Cycling Group | This is one of our shorter rides of around 12 miles in length starting at 10:00am from the TransPennine Trail Ranger Station on Statham Avenue, Lymm. The route will take us through the village centre, up Rectory Lane and out to Crouchley Lane. It is then a meander around Deansgreen to Swineyard Lane and Moss Lane leading to our cafe stop at High Legh Garden Centre. After refreshments we continue through High Legh village, Wrenshot Lane, Broad Oak Lane and on to Peacock Lane to head back through Deansgreen. It is then onward to Lymm village centre and return to the start point at the Ranger Station. Full route details & elevation profile will be sent to group members once the route has been planned. Wed May 8th | Striders Walking Group | Halkyn Mountain walk. 8 miles. Undulating countryside with views over Cheshire, Merseyside and surrounding Welsh countryside |

Tue May 14th | Cycling Group | This will be one of our longer rides, of around 28 miles in length, out to Broadheath, starting from the Trans Pennine Trail Ranger Station on Statham Avenue, Lymm at 10:00am. The route will take us along the TPT to Heatley where we travel a few lanes to reach Little Bollington and our first climb of the day. This “incline” up Reddy Lane takes us into Millington and onto another climb up Millington Lane to reach Rostherne village. From here we continue on towards Tatton Park entrance, but turn left and enjoying the downhill of Ashley Lane. In Ashley Village we turn towards Hale, around Bowden and Altrincham to arrive at our cafe stop in Broadheath. Most of the climbing has now been completed so after enjoying the comfy sofa’s of the cafe stop we can start our “almost flat” return journey. This is via a circuitous route around Broadheath to Dunham Town and onward towards Lymm, via Warburton and Heatley, back to our start point. There are some new lanes & roads on this routes, and it is only the second time we have use this cafe stop! Thu May 16th | Monthly Members Meetings | Our May Members' Meeting will be held at Thelwall Parish Hall It will follow our AGM. so timings will be a little flexible The hall will be open from 10:00am to enable you to meet up, check availability of Interest Groups and chat before the AGM starts at 10:30am We welcome Jim Holmes for a return visit, with his talk Cambodia and the ancient Kingdom of Ankor From its bustling capital, Phnom Pen, to the stunning 12th century temples of Angkor, there can be few greater contrasts than modern-day Cambodia. Forgotten in an all consuming jungle for centuries, these towering temples hold fascinating stone friezes that depict everyday life 900 years ago. This enigmatic country, with the only river that reverses its flow, will fascinate, with landscape, history and culture - some may recall Jim's first talk about Afghanistan The members' meetings are open to non-members interested in finding out what the u3a has to offer, with a view to joining |

(Very different from today with the crazy queues to reach the top of Everest!
