History Group Wednesday May 8th a Guided tour of Towneley Hall and Gardens. Burnley
9.30am meet up at at Civic Hall car park for car share
Organised tour of 1.5 hours to start at 11.am for a group of up to 20 people.
Cost £8 for a ticket that is valid for 1 year
Lunch / snacks will be available after the tour in the Old Stables Restaurant and cafe for those who want it.
March Meeting - "Driving Mr Morecambe"
Michael Fountain. Michael became Eric Morecambe's chauffeur in 1969 "to earn some extra cash".
Eric subsequently offered him a full-time position as his driver, handyman, house-sitter and friend.
Becoming Eric's driver changed his life completely.

February Meeting - "RSPB Hen Harrior Project"
Aimee Nicholson. Aimee works for the RSPB as part of the Hen Harrier Project which aims to increase the Hen Harrier population.

Our Christmas Meal 2018 will be held at the Longridge Golf Club on Friday 14th December at 7.30 p.m. We shall have our own room, a quiz with prizes, Christmas entertainment, and excellent food and company! We currently have 25 bookings for the meal so hopefully it will be another very enjoyable occasion.
The price of the meal will be £21 per person, with a gratuity included in the price.

Longridge U3A and the UCLAN Confucius Institute are hosting a day of Chinese activities and events.
The event is FREE ! and Everyone is welcome !
Longridge Civic Hall Friday September 7th 11:00 - 16:00
The activities include Calligraphy,Brush Painting,Chinese cookery,Tea making,Taichi, Chopsticks skills.
Displays on Acupuncture, Dragon Dancing, Musical instruments,Literature, Movies.
Advice on dos and don'ts travelling in China.

This month's monthly meeting a piano concert given by Andrew Wilde and sponsored by the North West Musical Trust. Andrew is an English classical pianist. He studied at Chetham's School of Music and the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, where he is still based.
The North West Music Trust gives top quality music performances in the community such as schools, nursing homes and private settings as well as world-class concerts in venues in Manchester and North West.
-----Grimsargh Gardening Club
Grimsargh Gardening Club would like to invite members to attend its meetings which are held on the first Wednesday of each month in the Grimsargh Village Hall at 7.30.
There is a modest (£2ish) entry charge for non-members which includes a raffle ticket and tea.

Robin has spent all his life in education and has written a wide range of books and plays. He is a member of North Cumbria Scriptwriters and specializes in historical characters.

Andrew Gill is a professional speaker who works with academia, museums and special interest groups and focuses on magic lanterns and optical toys.
Members of the Longridge Historical Society are cordially invited to attend this meeting for free.

Steve’s interest in local history led him to research Preston’s Learned Societies that grew out of the town’s early Literary and Philosophical Society which, when it established its Mechanics’ Institute in 1828, named it the Institution for the Diffusion of Knowledge at the suggestion of one Moses Holden.
Dementia Friends - Elaine Little
Elaine is a trained Dementia Friends Champion, who will provide information about dementia and explain how we can help to create dementia friendly communities.
