Welcome to the website of the Livermead and Preston U3A, a group that was set up in November 2011. We are all in our third age, that is we are passed our school years and the second age of working and looking after children. We are no longer in full time employment and that is when you can join us in the University of the Third Age. There's no need to have been to university or passed exams, nor will you be required to take any. We are a self help organisation and we share our knowledge and expertise and learn from each other.
We meet at Paignton Library, 1st Floor, on the 4th Wednesday of each month, except in December and August. Doors open at 1.30 pm and the meeting starts at 2.00 pm. We have a speaker every month on a variety of subjects. We are a friendly group and you will be made most welcome. These meetings are where members find out about what is being planned for their enjoyment. Events are advertised on the notice boards and members can sign up to the various activities.
Groups also form a great part of the U3A They are led by members and everyone shares their knowledge and enthusiasm. This is where friendships are formed and fun is had. We have groups covering a wide variety of subjects and are always looking to set up new ones. Anyone with an idea for a group should please approach a member of the committee. Sometimes group meetings are held in members homes, depending on size, and others take place in appropriate venues.
