Groups

We are a fairly small U3A but with an interesting number of group activities all run by very keen experienced members. As our membership increases we will be adding more groups as new members bring forward ideas.

All our groups are proving popular and some are full at the present time. This gives an opportunity to start a second group in that activity.

Costs to attend the groups vary depending on location and activity. Many just charge for a drink and biscuits, 50 pence or £1 is usual. Some, which meet in pubs or hotels, are free but expect you to buy a drink from the bar (cold or hot, alcoholic or not!). In some groups members stay behind afterwards for a pub lunch. It's a chance to socialise but it's not mandatory, of course!

Outdoor events, such as gardening, cycling and walking, are nearly always at different meeting locations. Dates and times are always on the notice board at group meetings and it's best to check in with the group leader to let them know you are joining them.

In our May Questionnaire a lot of members showed an interest in the proposed following groups:

• Garden Visits
• Gardening
• Strolling
• Play Reading
• French Conversation
• Coffee Mornings
• Afternoon Tea

However, we need people to run / organise these groups.
