Littlehampton

hello and welcome to Littlehampton U3A

Littlehampton is a seaside town in West Sussex

U3A (The University of the Third Age) is a UK-wide movement which brings together people in their ‘third age’ to develop their interests and continue their learning in a friendly and informal environment. From an idea formed over 30 years ago there are now over 1,000 U3As across the UK, with thousands of interest groups between them and more than 400,000 members nationally - plus we’re growing every day. The U3A national body – the Third Age Trust - looks after all the U3As in the UK, providing educational and administrative support. Information about the Third Age Trust.

If you’re wondering what we mean by the third age - it is a time after you have finished working full-time or raising your family and have time to pursue your interests or just try something new. Members draw upon their own knowledge and experience to teach and learn from each other but there are no qualifications to pass – it is just for pleasure. Learning is its own reward. Also, it's all voluntary; a typical U3A will be home to many activity groups covering a whole range of different subjects - from arts and crafts to ukulele and everything in between. It's all by the members, for the members with the U3A - the teachers learn and the learners teach!

Littlehampton U3A is no exception, with around 700 members we have over 60 interest groups. A list of our many and varied group activities can be found by clicking on the Groups tab above. We are always keen to create new interest groups so if there is something missing that you would like to see, why not join and let us know!

New members are always very welcome

Annual membership is £9.00 and this enables attendance at any of our groups and those of our network neighbour, Arun West U3A, which has interest groups in Middleton, Yapton, Barnham & Elmer. Click on Arun West U3A to visit their website.

New and prospective members are especially welcome at our monthly Coffee Mornings held at the Vardar Restaurant, Selborne Road, Littlehampton, see map of the area. Coffee mornings are on the 2nd Monday of each month (except December) from 10.30 to 12.00 noon - tea or coffee and a refill £2.50.

So, why not come along to have fun and make new friends? Simply click on this link Membership Renewal and New Applications to find out how to join.
