We are hands on gardeners who meet monthly at Millenium House Pensilva, at 2pm on the last Thursday of each month.
As our name suggests, we are garden lovers who enjoy gardening, sharing our knowledge and experiences, swapping plants, visiting local nurseries, trialling seeds and composts and having a quiz, to name just a few of our activities.
2019 was another great year for Down to Earth members - new skills learned and trips enjoyed. 2020 started with the annual planning & raffle meeting at which we drew up our calendar of events for the year.
2020 Down to Earth meeting dates:#
February Thursday 27th - Speaker - Mike - Easy & Unusual plants
March Thursday 26th - Wildlife - making a bird/butterfly feeder
April Thursday 30th - Hanging baskets
May Thursday 28th - SwapShop
June No meeting - Away trip - see below
July Thursday 30th - Garden Art
September Thursday 24th - Show & Tell - our project
October Thursday 29th - Quiz
November Thursday 26th - Year End - lunch
We are planning several trips, details of which are available at the Down to Earth meetings and also at the monthly U3A meeting, open to all if there are free spaces on the coach - these are announced at U3A meeting where details are also on the Down to Earth table.
Hopefully we will be going to the Cornwall Garden Society Spring Flower Show at Wadebridge on Saturday 4th April; Tobyfest at Powderham Castle on Friday 1st May and RHS Rosemoor on Monday 22nd June.
Please note that all trips must be booked and paid for in advance through Ann Robinson.
Happy gardening and here's hoping the weather finally decides to be kind to us
PS: Down to Earth is a victim of it's own success with far more group members than was originally intended and a long waiting list. If anyone would like to start up another gardening group PLEASE feel free to consult us and we will help you to do it - it isn't rocket science and could be run by several working together, not just one leader.
