Jointly with Midhurst u3a

A small friendly group of mixed interests and skills, meeting to pursue their own projects or a group project or two, which hopes to be able to recommence in January 2022. We currently have an N scale layout- “East Hants Link” a modern image tram/light rail line that might have been built locally between Liphook, Bordon and Bentley.
The group has changed from an instruction group, to an afternoon model railway club. Afternoon model railway clubs are quite a rarity in the UK but hopefully preferable for u3a members. Members can bring along your own project to work on; help another on a project; work on a group project or just chat about model railways. The group has changed venues and has increased to number of sessions per year to 12.
It is designed to suit those new to the hobby; those returning to the hobby after a break and everything in between. Ideal for those wanting to build a model railway for a grandchild or for themselves. Ladies and Gentlemen equally welcome. Tools and materials are not provided for your projects. For group projects the
organiser provides materials.
Tools All mains operated tools must be tested annually under the Portable Appliance Testing requirements. New tools do not require testing in the first year after purchase. Any transformer used with low voltage tools must also comply. The member must show the required purchase receipt or PAT certificate to the organiser at the first meeting attended
Refreshments Tea Coffee and Chocolate digestive biscuits are provided. We ask for a £1 donation for this, which is donated to the Railway Children charity on a monthly basis.
Facilities-Are located in private premises in the village of Milland approximately 3 miles south of Liphook Village centre. The venue is of approximately 25square metres, is fully insulated, well-lit and heated space with smoke detector, fire extinguisher and first aid kit. There are work bench spaces for at least 3 people with wall and ceiling mounted electrical sockets. Unfortunately not suitable for wheelchair users. Toilet available approx. 20 metres away in main house.
Sessions The group will meet during the first complete week of every month, from the first such week in September 2021. The venue will be available to the group on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons of each first week from 14.00hrs to 17.00hrs, which enables the size of the group overall to be around 10. Members can choose which afternoon they prefer every time or vary it from month to month, subject to space considerations.. We would encourage all users to use face masks for the foreseeable future.
Group Fees –No hire fee is charged for use of the venue. The organiser can arrange a “mass” annual PAT testing of members electrical tools if required, which will be charged at the first meeting-It is envisaged a fee of between £5 and £10 per person for this to be carried out by a qualified electrician.
