A Liphook U3A and Midhurst U3A joint afternoon special interest group
9 monthly meetings, (no meetings July, August or December). For members travelling from Liphook actually a less rural road than to our previous home in Milland.
A small friendly group of mixed interests and skills, meeting to pursue their own projects or a group project or two. The group has changed over the last year from an instruction group to an afternoon model railway club. Afternoon model railway clubs are quite a rarity in the UK but hopefully preferable for U3A members You can bring along your own project to work on; help another on a project or just chat about model railways. It is designed to suit those new to the hobby; those returning to the hobby after a break and everything in between.
Ideal for those wanting to build a model railway for a grandchild. Ladies & Gentlemen equally welcome. Tools and materials are not provided for your projects. There are a couple of non- negotiable rules on electrical safety (Portable Appliance Testing) Using goggles and protecting tables against damage.
Tea Coffee and Chocolate biscuits are provided. We ask for a £1 donation for this which is passed on to the Railway Children charity- who look after homeless children at railway stations in India, East Africa and the UK. The leader has been involved in the hobby for over 60 years but still has lot to learn!
