PXBB Tuesdays 1400-1600 weekly from 14th Jan
Convener: Carole Walton
Tutor: Roger Murray
The class will be using “Ecce Romani 3 – Home and School”, published by Oliver & Boyd, (2nd Edition) 1982, ISBN: 978-0-05003467-5, as its course book, with back up from “So you really want to learn Latin” (Book 2) by N.R.R. Oulton, published by Galore Park Publishing, 1999, ISBN: 978-1-902984-01-8. Thirdly, we hope to introduce, for additional class reading, “Ritchie’s Fabulae Faciles”, published by Geoffrey Steadman, ISBN: 978-0-9843065-5-8, (online versions also available), and a selection of other Latin texts from online sources.
In an informal and friendly atmosphere, the course aims to build up an understanding and enjoyment of the language, and its grammar, at a speed and depth, which suits the class members. Additionally each session will, as before, examine varied aspects of Roman culture and history, and their impact on language and life today. A small amount of homework is set each week.
Please note that the forthcoming term will be Roger Murray's last as
Latin Tutor - hence the present course will not extend the Summer
