PXBB Tuesdays 1400-1600 weekly from 15th Jan
Convener: Carole Walton
Tutor: Roger Murray
For background grammar, the class will continue to use Book 1 of a three-part course called "So you Really want to Learn Latin" by N.R.R. Oulton, published by Galore Park Publishing, first published in 1999 - ISBN: 978 1 902984 00, moving on to Book 2, when appropriate. We shall also continue with “Ecce Romani 2 – Rome at Last”, published by Oliver & Boyd, (2nd Edition) 1982 – ISBN 005-003466-90), and move onto Book 3, whenever the class is ready. Thirdly, we shall continue with “Short Stories in Latin” by Philip Dunlop, published by Cambridge University Press, ISBN 978-0-521-31592. In an informal and friendly atmosphere, the course will combine ongoing revision of basic grammar, covered in the last academic year, with more advanced study of grammar and vocabulary. Additionally each session will, as before, examine varied aspects of Roman culture and history, and their impact on language and life today. A small amount of homework is set each week.
