Ecology of the South Downs
Ecology of the South Downs (new)
LPRR Wednesdays 1400-1600 fortnightly from 2nd May
Convener: Mary Benjamin
This is a short course (5 weeks) exploring the structure and functioning of the characteristic ecosystems associated with the South Downs around Lewes. The main focus will be on chalk grassland, but we will also explore woodlands, meadows and freshwater habitats. Each session will involve some talk and some walk. Most will be based on the Railway Land nature reserve, but on a couple of days we will go further afield. No previous knowledge is necessary but the course will inevitably involve walking on rough ground and climbing hills.
Maximum group size is 20.
