Wisdom Traditions of the East
Wisdom Through the Ages (new) HFMR
Thursdays 1400-1600 weekly from 5th Oct
Convener: James Wright
Providing there is sufficient interest, it is hoped to form a serious study group to consider some of the writings and sayings of exceptional (and lesser known) figures tracing the transmission of traditional wisdom from the 6th century BC up to the present day, with special emphasis on the comparison of Eastern masters with their near contemporaries in the West, viz.
|Chuana Tzu/Lao Tzu||4th Cent. BC||Pythagoras||6th Cent. BC|
|Shankara||8th Cent. AD?||Heraclitus||6th Cent.BC|
|Gorakhnath||11th Cent,AD?||Pseudo-Dionysius||5thCent AD|
|Ibn Arabi||1188-1240 AD||Meister Eckhart||1260-1328|
|Nanak||1469-1539 AD||Nicholas of Cusa||1401-1464|
This is most definitely NOT an “information” course, and although no previous knowledge is necessary, it will only be of interest to those who are prepared to make a serious commitment to group study on a regular basis.
If you are interested in making a joint voyage of discovery where you will be doing the work in conjunction with similarly motivated others, and IF you would be prepared to make a personal commitment to the group as a regular member, your participation would be much valued, and I hope you would find it also personally rewarding.
If you are interested, please contact James Wright but don't forget also to register for the group using the usual Green Form procedure.
