Do you know that there other ways to escape the pressures and difficulties of life other than to walk the hills from Austria to Switzerland singing with Maria; that there are other forms of train travel other than electric; that there are magical islands and places to visit, even if it is only possible once in a hundred years; that there are many other "juke-box" musicals other than "Buddy".
"Oh What a Lovely War" seems to be appropriate at present as we have just commemorated the 100th anniversary of the ending of the Great War, but do you know of any other wars and leaders which have been the subject of a musical?
What is new in the West End; what has been forgotten from the past; what has been presented on Broadway that has never been seen or heard in England?
Come and relax, and experience the delights of musicals; old and new; well-known and the obscure; the delightful and the bizarre! All are welcome to join the "Listening to Musicals" group', meeting on alternate Wednesday afternoons between 1400 and 1600, in the Yarrow Room at the Town Hall.
