THY Mondays 1000-1200 weekly from 13th Jan (5 sessions)
Tutor: Andrew Buxton
Administrator: Sheila Murden
The session on 3rd Feb will be in THCC
This course does not duplicate material in previous series but prior attendance is
not a pre-requisite.
Public art is taken as art in "public" places, which is interpreted fairly widely to include the street, parks, town squares, railway stations, churches, hospitals, universities, buses... It ranges from traditional bronze sculptures of public figures to abstract works in new materials and even sound and light installations. The works may be made from steel, bronze, other metals, resin, wood, stone, glass, concrete, ceramics, or other materials.
All sessions will be fully illustrated, mostly with the tutor’s own photographs. The sessions are informal and class discussion is encouraged.
A visit may be arranged in conjunction with the course, subject to participants' interest.
The planned topics are:
13th Jan - What's new in Sussex?
20th Jan - Nantes
27th Jan - Weathervanes
3rd Feb - Oxford and Buckinghamshire
10th Feb - London - Sculpture in the City and Frieze London
