The group reads authors such as Herodotus, Homer and the tragedians in the original Greek and looks at the history, mythology and archaeology associated with them. Their reading is supported by some work on basic grammar and vocabulary. There is also weekly study of English words derived from Greek.
Beginners are given extra help and usually find they have an appreciation of the reading from an early stage. It is possible to attend the first two sessions of any term to help with making a decision.
An annual trip takes place to the King’s College Greek play in London in February and there may be opportunities for other Greek theatre visits.
