The May session (22 May) will take place in the Council Chamber (THCC)
The May meeting (22 May) will feature Terry Seabrook playing and talking on the theme “How musicians make jazz” in the Council Chamber (THCC)(£4 extra charge for this session).
The Jazz Club has a relaxed atmosphere and members can get to know each other as friends. Some members are knowledgeable about jazz and all are encouraged to share their enthusiasms. Illustrated talks help people to hear and enjoy a wider range of the music. Each month a member runs the first half of the session, which might include a video or talk and recordings on a theme agreed for that month. Members are also encouraged to bring recordings that illustrate the theme and may talk about the piece they are playing. Every so often we ask people to bring vinyls. DVDs are welcomed for their visual input. Each month there is a newsletter, telling people what to expect for the next meeting, alerting them to jazz events in the area and publicising ways of accessing broadcast and internet jazz. New members are welcome. Over the year members go to jazz concerts, jazz festivals, and live jazz in pubs. Some members have been working on the formation of a jazz group, so if you play an instrument and would like to contribute please let the conveners know.
