Social History from 1600-1815 through dance. John Playford published his first book of Country Dances in 1651 – we can still enjoy his dances today and savour the glimpses of history they give us. Designed for the gentry, these dances are
elegant, jolly, slow or sprightly, something for everyone in fact, especially if your leaping days are over. You do not need dance experience or a partner, just come along and join us for gentle exercise, great tunes, tea and friendship.
