Everyday Alexander Technique

Everyday Alexander Technique
Zoom
Saturdays 1100-1200 Ad Hoc basis until September

Convener: Magdalena Portmann

Alexander Technique is often thought of as posture or movement training - but it is so much more. Ultimately, it is the study of how you live. It is an exploration of what is possible when you are not being ruled by your habits.

In the classes, you practise giving attention to how you do things, to how you perceive tasks. Through observation of tension patterns and sensations in the body, you become aware of your habitual responses to life’s challenges. You will learn to ease some of the excessive tension and gain a more comfortable way of being. Alexander Technique is an immensely portable tool that you can apply to your everyday activities, for example walking, playing an instrument, your gym or Pilates session, chopping vegetables, gardening, writing a difficult letter, working on the computer. Enhanced posture and ease in movement, reduced pain, prevention of pain, better conditions for recovery from injuries, and an improved sense of well-being are just a few of the possible benefits to be had.
