Reading – Meet third Monday afternoon in the month.
The Reading Group has been active since 2006, meeting on a monthly basis.
We average around ten or eleven folk, meeting in each others' homes.
Members buy their own boos, mostly from online retailers, with an agreed cap on price.
At each meeting the next member in turn announces their choice of title which they then
present for discussion at the meeting three months later. That allows everyone sufficient
time to acquire, read and digest the book. There are no restrictions on choices
- as a group we are open to interesting new titles, whether fact or fiction, modern
or old. The main business of each meeting is the book presentation for the current
month, followed by discussion and refreshments. It is probably an advantage for a
member to have internet access, as it offers an efficient way of buying books, quite
apart from access to library catalogues, reviews and author information.
