COVID 19 - JUNE 2020

While lockdown measures are being eased, under current government and health advice, we are not yet able to resume our monthly meetings. A small number of our interest groups are restarting meetings in person outside with social distancing in place. Other groups continue to keep in touch and meet online.

We will of course keep the situation under review as the situation and advice changes.The health and well being of our members remains paramount at all times.


CHARLES GARLAND ..... Series Editor of Dad’s Army, Hi-de-Hi etc
Spoke about his experiences making these and other TV programmes. He has led an interesting life and we enjoyed hearing his personal experiences and anecdotes.

Local History group will be having a speaker talking about Shoebury Garrison on Friday 21st February at St Aidan’s. Any Leigh-on-Sea members not members of the group are also welcome to attend.

Writing For Fun 2 new group run by Gwenda Syratt is up and running but could take a few more people. Meeting second Monday of the month, 1.30pm. You can make contact via Groups Co-ordinator on Contacts page.

CANASTA We are hoping to get a third Canasta group going. Please contact Group Organiser if you would like to join.

LUNCH GROUP 2 - is now full but Liz Collins happy to advise anyone who would like to start a new one.
PLAY READING Fout new members would like to start a group and are looking for more and a leader.
BOOK GROUP 1 - could take another member.
NEW AND VIEWS GROUP is taking a break and hoping to capture some new members to restart.
White Hall Bowls Club Pétanque Committee have asked if we would like to meet there. Anyone fancy setting up a Pétanque group?
Havens Hospice due to open soon is enquiring if any members would like to volunteer there.
