On Tuesday 3rd October, led by our dedicated leader Gerry Galvin, our bowling group attended a presentation in Atherton where a cheque was received to provide the group with equipment needed to allow us to play indoor bowls through the winter. Gerry, looking very dapper, proudly received an amount to cover the cost of several sets of indoor bowls as well as other items.

Several other local groups were also given grants including another U3A group. We must thank the local Age UK who facilitated the grants. Their representatives were especially helpful in the wording of the applications.

The presentation afternoon was really enjoyable and some of us went to chat to the other groups all directed at promoting activities for over 50s. Eileen and I did our bit in promoting our own U3A activities.

The bowling group are very grateful to Gerry who is a great leader and works very hard and with good humour and patience to make the group a very enjoyable experience.

The bowling Group meets alternate Friday mornings at 10:30. All welcome.
