Science and Technology
Convener: Richard Thompson
NOTE: GROUP ACTIVITIES ARE SUSPENDED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. SEE THE FINAL PARAGRAPH OF THIS TEXT.
Topics for discussion are chosen by group members to reflect the challenges of current developments in science and technology.
The format of meetings varies. Sometimes one member gives a talk; sometimes several of us make shorter contributions. We do not restrict ourselves to scientific theory but also discuss the social and economic implications of technology. In June and July we usually go on visits instead of holding formal meetings.
The group welcomes all U3A members who are interested in exploring and discussing scientific developments and their implications.
We meet at 2.30pm, on the last Thursday of the month, usually but not always at Age UK, Clarence House, Humberstone Gate, Leicester LE1 3PJ except for the visits, usually arranged for June and sometimes also for July, and except for August and December when we do not meet.
The meetings originally scheduled for March and April have been cancelled in response to the corona virus emergency. We hope that it will eventually be possible to meet again, but assume our activities are suspended until you hear to the contrary.
