Latin 1 and Classical Greek
|Leader:||Liz Cartlidge, 01538 360208|
|Day & Times||Tuesdays, 9:30–11:00|
|Venue:||Norton House, small upstairs room|
Sessions are split into Latin and Classical Greek language and Greek plays in translation.
While starting as linguistic courses with an emphasis on acquiring some fluency in the language, we have always recognised that for many the prime interest is in the people who spoke these languages and the links with our own language and civilisation.
We have for some time been learning Classical Greek language – a tougher challenge than Latin because of its alphabet and more complex grammar.
We read in translation Greek & Roman drama and history, and find that human nature remains remarkably constant over the centuries.
