This is a lively and well-established group, enjoying all aspects of the French language.
Our meetings vary from discussion in French of current topics and interests, through to translation, dictation and grammar work. We subscribe to translation publications and study the works of popular French authors such as Pagnol and Simenon and also watch classic French films.
The loss of our weekly meetings has been a double whammy for our group as we are not only a long-standing and cohesive group, but we have evolved as close, caring and mutually supportive friends as well.
So, notwithstanding, here are some of the varied and inventive ways we have stayed close and in touch: two members converse in French on Skype each week; two others converse in French on the telephone each week; when it was permitted several of the group have met to walk together (avec des chiens!); also when permitted two others meet for coffee in a garden periodically, some of us have met in the leader’s garden when the weather was kind and several of us have gathered to walk a circuit to ‘call’ outside at the houses of other, less able members. The French magazine has also continued to circulate.
We obviously look forward to the time when we can meet again face-to-face as a group, even if this is in the spring ‘en plein air’, but, in the meantime, we remain close and keep up our French conversation.
This group is full, happy and well established but does not at present have room for new members.
