Launceston

Art Appreciation

Art Appreciation Group

We meet at the Trecarn Centre in Launceston on the last Monday morning of the month at 10:30 in September, October, November and then January, February, March. Our approach to fine art is eclectic, using a variety of sources and there are no professionals among us so we share knowledge. We mainly show the paintings using PowerPoint and the resources centre of the U3A has a good collection of slides, DVDs and information. Usually two people prepare a presentation, or sometimes a number of members of the group present a painting with a short discourse. We try to visit a gallery within the season, to see paintings 'in the flesh', so to speak. It is refreshing to see, closeup, how the artist has worked, and the true colours and technique used.

Newcomers are welcome and we each contribute £1.
