Lancing & Sompting

If you are new to the U3A, welcome to our web pages. If you are an existing member, the pages will allow you to keep up to date with the latest news and developments relating to our Groups. Our U3A was established just over ten years ago and has now grown to a membership of 272 people and has become a thriving organisation, offering learning opportunities to the local community.
It is a self-help learning organisation for people who have completed their career or finished raising a family and provides educational, creative and leisure opportunities in a friendly environment. Qualifications are not gained, but the Groups offer a tremendous opportunity to try something new and learn about a whole range of subjects and interests. Rather than paying people to teach, members are encouraged to share their knowledge and talents with other members and a U3A thrives because all its members are willing to pull their weight and put in as much as they get out. U3A does not provide services for its members – members provide them for each other.
Some Groups meet in members’ houses and others in local venues where a small fee is charged towards the room rental. For full details of our Groups go to the tab at the top of this page.

Our membership fees from 1st March, 2021 are £12 for new members, but £8 for current members and £4.50 for associate members
Please click on the Bluebird to the right of this page to contact Membership, and the Secretary will send you the combined New Membership Application/Renewal Form.

A quarterly Newsletter is published containing information on forthcoming events and Group activities; the latest edition can be accessed from the tab at the top of this page.

MONTHLY MEETINGS are held at 2 p.m. in the Jubilee Hall of Lancing Parish Hall, South Street, Lancing on the first MONDAY of each month (except when it falls on a Bank Holiday, when the meeting will take place a week later) (see links for Venue Map). Invited speakers talk on a wide variety of subjects and the dates of the meetings are listed on the “Events” page. Visitors are welcome to attend ONE meeting to gain an insight into our activities, but are respectfully requested to become a member before attending any further Monthly Meetings.

Monthly meetings will resume as soon as the Parish Hall is open to hirers.
