Kington

Welcome to Kington U3A

Kington is a small market town in NW Herefordshire on the borders of England and Wales. Our U3A aims to provide groups of interest to members by its members. We participate in many different activities.

Kington U3A was launched in July 2006. So far in 2017/18 it has more than seventy paid up members, and we expect many more. Annual membership is £15.00. Membership entitles you to join as many groups as you wish.

Interest Groups meet in members homes or suitable halls in the Kington district. A small charge (minimum 50p) may be payable at each interest group meeting to cover any costs.

There is a general meeting at 2.00pm on the second Thursday of most months when members come together to hear talks on varied subjects. We take the opportunity to socialise over a cup of tea or coffee with biscuits. Members pay £1 per meeting and we welcome visitors who pay £2.

Our financial year ends on 31st May, and the AGM takes place in June. At this time we elect the committee.

Welcome to Kington U3A - University of the Third Age.

In the words of the parent organisation

“U3As are self-help, self-managed lifelong learning co-operatives ..........providing opportunities for their members to share learning experiences in a wide range of interest groups and to pursue learning not for qualifications, but for fun.”

It is with this in mind that since its formation in July 2006 Kington U3A has produced a wonderful array of activities and interest groups to tempt members.

These include the opportunity to brush up on a different language, participate in playing bridge, theatre and concert visits, play and poetry readings, book reviews. You can also broaden your knowledge through participation in groups on astronomy, military history, and history of art or learn how to explore your family history. If you are feeling particularly energetic you can cycle in expert company, and enjoy exercise in a Tai Chi group. The groups on offer are always changing so check out the Groups page.
