Kings Norton & District

Welcome to the U3A website for Kings Norton and neighbouring districts of Birmingham.

Kings Norton and District

Kings Norton and surrounding district is a leafy suburb of South West Birmingham that is centred on a medieval village green but which also includes large areas of mixed housing adjoining the border with Worcestershire.

The University of the Third Age

The U3A is a national and international learning organisation consisting of local U3A groups which are managed and organised by the members themselves. All U3A groups are members of the Third Age Trust which provides administrative and educational support. Members receive the U3A News published by the Third Age Trust quarterly.
Members are normally retired or semi-retired from paid employment who would like to extend and share their knowledge in a friendly and social environment.
Learning is self directed and there are no exams or qualifications to be gained. To find out more about the history and ethos of the U3A the Third Age Trust please visit their web site, accessible through the above U3A tab..

Kings Norton and District U3A

The Kings Norton and District U3A was founded in early 2017 but we are still recruiting new members. The current membership stands at just under 250.

We offer Interest groups across a broad spectrum of subjects which vary in both type and size. These are organised by members with the emphasis on learning through their own efforts. New interest groups can also be started at any time as members identify a particular interest or need. At the moment around 40 Groups have been established, although the number varies almost weekly! - up to date details can be found on the Group and Events tabs.

Membership is currently £14 annually (£10 for members of other U3As) or £7 from 1 October and entitles members to attend the General Meetings and all or any of the groups they wish to join. However please note that some Interest Groups may charge nominal amounts to cover room hire, travel costs or refreshments.

Non members are warmly invited to attend our monthly General Meetings for a nominal fee of £2 per meeting. Meetings are usually held on the first Tuesday in the month and are held at the St Joseph and St Helen's Hall on Station Road, Kings Norton (see Contact tab for details.) Please note that non-members are not allowed to visit Interest Groups until they have become a member. Visitors are welcome to attend a maximum of 4 General Meetings per year for the same £2 charge per meeting.

If you would like more information about our U3A group or to find out how to join please refer to our Membership, Contacts or Links tabs for contact details.

Many thanks for visiting our website. Please feel free to browse through the site and we hope you can find something of interest and you will be encouraged to join one of the youngest and fastest growing U3As.
