Mah Jong
We meet on the third Monday of the month at our home in South Wootton from 2-4pm.
Since the group started in January 2010 membership has increased to 16 members, although they rarely all come at once. Although Mah Jong is really a game for four players, it is possible to play with three or even two, so no-one ever has to sit out. We usually have three tables going but can manage four at a pinch.
When we started most people were new to the game, but now everyone is familiar with the basics and can enjoy several games in an afternoon. There is still plenty to learn, however, and we make frequent use of the various rule books available. We have also benefited from the knowledge and experience of some more recent members, who are happy to pass on their wisdom.
Allowing for the fact that it is rare for everyone to turn up on any one afternoon, we could accommodate one or two more people – and are happy to take on beginners, who will find there is plenty of friendly encouragement.
