Technology and Communications

New u3a group "Technology and Communication".
To learn about technology and communication (TCG) and its everyday use including:
· Smart TVs
· Phones
· Cameras
· Home Wi-Fi
· Computers, printers, scanners, online security, cloud-based computing
· Sat navs
· Communications including amateur radio / Citizens Band / PMR Internet, cloud storage

The use of technology has social benefits. It allows people to keep in touch with friends and family wherever they may be.
This is key to alleviating loneliness and isolation. However, like all technologies there is a learning curve and a need to
understand how to use the internet safely.

Today many of the government and council services are accessed through internet web portals and people may be excluded from
access because of a lack of confidence and knowledge.
The aim of the TCG is to help address these issues and have some fun.

My approach is to focus on the practical, to learn by doing and to help each other.
Hopefully when Covid restrictions are lifted to have face to face meetings, but in the meantime to use Zoom.
