RAFFLE - Our raffle was drawn live on Zoom on Monday 21st December - Congratulations to our winners (see our January newsletter for the winners)

  • Creative - Christmas card with picture designed and painted in watercolour by Jan, our Art facilitator. The card has been sent to all members by email
  • Poem - "Wherefore Art Thou u3a" by Wendy, our groups co-ordinator. Wendy is also our play reading/drama facilitator.
  • Narrative - "A Covid 19 Christmas Carol" by David - A humorous short story, loosely based on the Charles Dickens classic, written by one of our members David
  • Recipes - Make your own sweet mincemeat, mince pies and Jalousie using these Christmas recipes that have been submitted by Jane one of our committee members
  • Recipe - "Festive Heaven in a Glass" - Homemade Mulled wine - a recipe from Ken our Wine Appreciation Group facilitator
  • Poster - "Festive Greetings from Around the World" - A digital collage of Christmas and New Year Greetings in languages throughout the World.
  • Competition - Christmas Tree - won by Celia & Michael
  • Competition - Christmas Jumper - won by Ken - Christmas Jumper Day Friday 11th December - Save the Children
  • Book Review - has been provided by Val, our Book Club group facilitator
  • Poster - Christmas Puzzles and Jokes
  • Article - "Silent Night Oh Holy Night" by Jean - The singing of Christmas carols can evoke many memories of raucous singing at school assemblies, Carol Services and even the seasonal; music played to shoppers in the run up to Christmas. Jean, one of our committee members has produced this short insight into the meaning of oner of our most popular carols.
  • Activity - "A Virtual Christmas Eve Walk" by Heather - won by Helen - To many, walking has been a great inspiration and joy this year, whilst walking with company has been an absolute tonic during the driest of days. May be this 'Virtual Walk' will inspire you to take a brisk walk over the festive period or, just sit down and relax with a pen and paper and work out the route using the clues. Guess where you are at the numbered points! Answers will be provided after Christmas!
  • Narrative - "The Perils of Click & Collect" by David - Another humorous take on life from David
  • Verse - "12 Days of Covid Christmas" by Shirley - This token of poetry inspiration came to Shirley on Christmas Day - this is what she said. "For something to do I dashed off a piece but think it too late now for a Christmas entry. But here it is anyway!! Try to sing to the tune of the 12 days of Christmas."
  • Poem - Christmas Past 2020 by Jan - Jan our Art Group Facilitator has penned this poem on her reflective thoughts of a Christmas Past.
