Current Affairs (Inverness)
If you are interested in current affairs, or want to be better informed, or enjoy the cut and thrust of debate, this could be the group for you.
The group normally meets at 3 week intervals at a group member's house. Meetings start at 2.30pm on Wednesdays. The meetings usually last for about 2 hours after which our host provides us with a cuppa and a bite to eat, which we take turns to provide.
The U3A requires those attending groups to be members of the U3A, though you do not need to decide to do that until you have sampled a couple of meetings to see if you really want to join.
The format of our meetings is that usually all members are invited to bring an item of news which has caught their attention and would like to share with the others. It may be intended to provoke discussion or it may be purely a matter for information. It can be a serious matter or just quirky or amusing. Sometimes a member will offer to speak longer on a topic of interest and perhaps present a paper for others to read and keep. Any subject which comes up will provoke comment, sometimes critical, but we do not fall out with each other!
