The Shorter Walks Group was set up to provide an opportunity for those who wanted an easier option to the longer walks of the Walking Group. We usually try to find interesting local walks providing moderate exercise at a comfortable pace although in the summer we sometimes go further afield. We are a friendly group and consider that socialising is as important as the exercise. For this reason we tend to prefer wider paths where we can talk as we walk. Our usual route is about 4 miles long taking about 2 hours over not too challenging terrain. An essential requirement is that we end the walk enjoying a coffee/light lunch at a local café. We usually walk in the morning, every fortnight, on the Wednesday of the week between the main U3A meetings.
