Ancient and Modern History
We meet on the third Tuesday of the month at 14:00 hours.
The format of the meetings is that firstly we have a general discussion on any topic that members wish to discuss. The emphasis is on interactive examination of events that at one time were of course most important. Then we have a consideration in more depth of a subject decided previously by the group.
Everyone is expected to research a topic and deliver a presentation, members are not simply expected to just warm a chair and drink tea. The topics follow no particular pattern and have so far included the ten lost tribes of Israel, Saxon battles e.g. the battle of Maldon, Hereward the Wake, William the Marshal, David 1st of Scotland, Kingdoms of Africa, modern Canadian history, the Silk Roads, the Druids. As you can see our agenda is varied. If there is a subject of history you would like to talk about please contact us, details in Upstream. Lastly the emphasis is on having fun and we are quite a light hearted group.
