Coach Trip to Sussex Prairie Gardens – Organisers Sue A and Eileen M
On 11 July, on one of the many hot and sunny days we have enjoyed this summer, a group of us travelled to West Sussex to visit Sussex Prairie Gardens. We were greeted by Pauline McBride, who along with her husband Paul, are the owners and creators of this wonderful garden. Pauline gave us an interesting and animated talk on how their vision for the garden became a reality. We then enjoyed homemade cake and tea or coffee before spending a pleasant time exploring the garden and buying some of the unique items on sale in the craft and garden shop. Our next stop was Steyning, a Tudor village not far from the garden. Here we enjoyed lunch or just a wander around this historical village. At 4.30 it was time to return home driven by our lovely driver Neil. Thanks to everyone who supported this trip and made it a lovely day out.

Each year brings vacancies on the Hounslow U3A committee and 2020 will be no exception. For instance, the role of membership secretary will fall vacant. Now if anyone is interested in taking over, do talk to the present incumbent Remy A who will be very happy to explain and mentor. Perhaps you would like to shadow Remy’s activity. Are you interested in any one of the other roles. For instance, would you like to have a go at organising our speakers’ programme. Celia and Gail would be happy to explain and welcome anyone who would like to shadow their roles. Or you might be happy just to serve on the committee without a designated job to begin with. Just talk to any member.
A volunteer is required to take over from Joy who has given so selflessly in offering tea, coffee and biscuits at each meeting. Again, please put your name forward to Joy or any committee member.
If you are on the internet, a general plea for members to check their emails regularly. There are times when leaders or there are information emails from U3A which require reading and replying. If you have it, please use it.
