So far this year members have had the opportunity to visit the London Coliseum to see several operas including the popular Barber of Seville. We were also booked to see The Magic Flute which, very disappointedly, was cancelled at the last minute because of technical issues.
We have also seen the following plays:
The Father performed in The Studio at Hampton Hill – a challenging and gripping play, superbly acted, about a family coping with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Jane Austen’s Northanger Abbey at The Orange Tree and Noel Coward’s Private Lives at The Mary Wallace Theatre. Both were brilliantly acted and well supported.
Consent by Nina Raine Wednesday 1 May 2024 at 7.45.p.m. in The Studio at Hampton Hill
I am looking to book the above play - a ‘modern classic’ according to The Times.
Friends Ed and Tim take opposing briefs in a sexual assault case. The key witness is a woman whose life seems a world away from theirs. At home though the barristers’ own lives start to unravel in a frenzy of betrayals and recrimination.
Tickets are £17 each but I will try to get them all at Members Rate of £13.50 (to be confirmed)
If you are interested, can you please email me by return because The Studio is small and will sell out quickly.
Marie Curie Musical at the Charing Cross Theatre in July - Matinee at 2.30.p.m.
Following our last full u3a meeting and the talk from the Marie Curie organisation, one of our members noticed that the above musical telling the life story of Marie Curie is to be performed at the Charing Cross Theatre by Embankment underground station (district line) this summer June/July. Tickets are from £18. 60 and I am waiting for the theatre to reply regarding group prices. I plan to book a matinee performance and have provisionally discussed Wednesday afternoon on 3rd July.
Before committing to booking can you let me know asap if you might be interested in going.
The group is open to anyone to come along and join us.
