CURRENT AFFAIRS 1
We meet on the first Thursday of the month from 2.00 to 3.30 pm as a house group.
At present, those who are able to access the internet meet regularly on Zoom, our discussions having become more frequent than our usual monthly meetings. Telephone calls keep us in touch otherwise.
We have been following the ups and downs of the CV-19 situation, observing the success of so many female national leaders in managing the pandemic. Other topics included the Exam debacle, the American elections and other topics closer to home, such as the proposed redevelopment of the sites at Gillette Corner. There is always at least one light-hearted report, to lift our spirits. We were heartened by the news that Taylor Swift had donated a huge sum to help a student through university. What was interesting was that one of us had heard it on the radio, one had read about it in the newspaper and one had seen it on the TV news. Our takes on the story were slightly different. So, it does matter how you get your news.
