April 2016 Outing

U3A Gardening Group met on Friday April 28th at Merchiston Hall where we shared cars and visited an NGS open garden scheme at 'Bavins' just outside of Alton. It is an amazing 100 acre bluebell wood. Despite the odd heavy shower where we took shelter in an old pig sty, we did enjoy the bluebells and sunshine. I hasten to add the old pig sty was turned into a very rustic coffee/lunch room, tables, chairs, sofas and blankets available (not quite Glynebourne). On the menu were homemade nettle or wild garlic soup, both delicious, with flan and cakes etc. It was a very different but good day out.

We usually meet on the 3rd Wednesday morning of the month but is subject to change, depending on where we are visiting.
