Horndean Voluntary Care Group
The following information about this Care Group which is not connected with or supported by the U3A is provided to members in case anyone individually might wish to avail themselves of its services or assist in providing them.
The Care Group has been in operation in the Horndean Parish area since 1979 and, during that time, well over 200 volunteers have undertaken thousands of tasks on behalf of the residents of Horndean, Blendworth, Catherington and Lovedean.
The Group endeavours to assist with transport door-to-door to hospitals, GP surgeries, dentists, opticians, shopping trips etc. so, if you have difficulty in travelling to your appointment, please give the Group a call on 0752 833 1989 with, if possible, at least 48 hours notice. The Group will ask for a donation to cover their expenses.
However, if you are lucky enough to have your own means of transport and feel able to assist the Group, give them a call – drivers can be reimbursed with a mileage allowance. Similarly, you could become a volunteer by taking incoming telephone calls in your own home from those residents requiring assistance.
Please note that all volunteers will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) - formerly Criminal Records Bureau (CRB)- check free of cost.
For more information please call the Duty Co-ordinator on 0752 833 1989.
