The aim of the Photography Group is to increase members' knowledge about using their cameras to take interesting photographs as well as how to process them. We do this by going on photoshoots in the summer and at indoor training sessions during the winter.
During the summer months we go to various locations in our area for photoshoots where we learn how to use the different features and settings on our cameras to take the best pictures. Our photoshoots cover all types of photography, including urban locations, landscapes and nature. Members are invited to select up to three photographs from the shoot to post process as necessary and submit to Bob Beveridge who will post them on Flickr, adding his constructive comments about each image.
In the winter months we meet in Lovedean Village Small Hall to learn how to post-process the images we take. The most popular software used by the Group’s members (and good value for money) is Adobe Photoshop Elements. Members pay £2 to attend these indoor meetings to cover the cost of the Hall.
Meetings are usually held on the third Thursday of the month at 2pm although the photoshoots are sometimes held in the evening and occasionally we go out all day. Details of past training meetings and photoshoots are shown on the attached pages.
Members of the group share their knowledge with each other to help us improve our photography skills including how to use our cameras, how to take well-composed images, and how to post-process our digital images. Clive will also answer questions from individual members during the month and look to arrange one-to-one help for any member who requires it.
