Welcome to the Hope Valley U3A
We are very privileged to live in the Hope Valley with its varied landscapes which are some of the most stunning in the Peak District. We have excellent road and rail links between many of our villages and to cities such as Sheffield and Manchester. Since our inauguration in July 2014, we have created a thriving U3A with many enthusiastic members and 20 varied interest groups. The ethos of the U3A movement is to foster lifelong learning in a sociable environment, utilising the enthusiasm and expertise of its members. If you are retired or semi-retired and want to share your interests with like-minded people then do consider joining us. Browse our website to find out what we offer and how to join us, or follow us on Facebook (see link on right).
Monthly Open Meetings
Our monthly meetings, usually featuring a speaker, are held at 2pm on the third week of each month, alternating between the third Thursday in Hathersage and the third Tuesday in Hope (see Events page). We welcome both existing and potential new members to these meetings to listen to a speaker, share a cup of tea with friends and sign up to the various interest groups. If you are not sure if the U3A is for you, do come along to help you decide.
Interest Groups
We now have 20 active interest groups with more in the pipeline. The Group Convenors are usually on hand at our monthly Open Meetings to give an idea of what each group intends to do. We are always open to suggestions for starting up new groups. For more information about the groups contact the Groups Coordinator.
New Members
New members, whether they be residents of the Hope Valley or from surrounding towns and villages, are always welcome. Members of other U3As are also welcome to join. All you need to do is download a membership application form from the Membership Area of the website, complete it and post it to the address given on the form. Please contact our Membership Secretary for more details.
